This is a sign of a senior centre near Commercial Dr. at east side of Vancouver. Few thoughts:
- The roof implies shelter which is appropriate.
- the man and woman symbol doesn’t imply “seniority”. Not that I have a stereotype of old people with hunchback and pole in head, but there should be some hint to show that it is for seniors.
- the man and woman symbol has no different then the ubiquitous Washroom sign. Imagine you are standing 10 meters away from the sign and was looking for the washroom. Without really staring at the text label, would you be rather confused by this sign?
On the other hand, there is a standard signage symbols for airport facilities published by AIGA, the professional association for design.

I know that seniors’ centre is not as much of a mainstream public facility as something like washroom, elevator and emergency exit, thus there is no international standard symbol for it. But if god is in the details, a simple sign like that can make a nicer impression of the service level, and perhaps a better experience for the senior users of the facility.
