At first it was a bit uncomfortable for me to read such maps, but now I&#039;m very used to reading it. I agree that it does take away much mental burdens to rotate the map inside your head, therefore has a lower learning curve then the &quot;North-is-up&quot; version.

In terms of the mass production issue, it is a non-issue now since digital printing is extremely cheap. I did, however, still see some hand-drawn maps in some old, local neighborhoods. Well it&#039;s just some rare exceptions.

By the way I also saw such maps in Hong Kong. So I think it&#039;s nothing new now :-)</description>
